The Staff

 

Richard L. Anklam is the President & Executive Director of the New Mexico Tax Research Institute.   Prior to accepting this position in late May, 2007, Richard was the Director of State and Local Tax for Grant Thornton LLP, an international accounting and consulting firm.  His responsibilities were for the Albuquerque and Phoenix offices.

 

Before his service with Grant Thornton LLP, Richard was the Assistant Secretary/Director of Tax Policy for the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department.  Prior to that, Richard led KPMG's state and local tax practice in the Albuquerque and El Paso offices.  Prior to that Richard was a tax auditor with New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department.

 

He is a member of the Government Research Association (GRA), the National Taxpayers’ Conference (NTC), the New Mexico Society of Association Executives (NMSAE), the  American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and serves on the board of the New Mexico Society of CPA's (NMSCPA).  He has served previously on the boards of the New Mexico Tax Research Institute (NMTRI) and the Association of Commerce and Industry (ACI) 

 

Richard is virtually a native to New Mexico, moving to New Mexico from Arizona around two years of age, and having lived in Albuquerque, Ruidoso, Santa Fe, Espanola, Artesia, Roswell and Pecos.   Richard is a CPA and graduate of the University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management.
